Report of Sub-Commitee re discharge and delivery of Cargo at Port Chalmers and Dunedin.

The Sub-Committee appointed by the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce "to obtain information and to take steps for expediting the delivery of goods from ships discharging at Port Chalmers" have now concluded their enquiry, and they beg to state that they have examined witnesses representing the Principal Importers, the Shipping Interest, the Railway, the Lighters and the Harbour Board, they have personally inspected the wharves and sheds at the Port and at Dunedin, and after a careful consideration of the evidence brought before them they have to report as follows:—
