1. | Give an account of the structure and mode of life of the chief forms of Bacteria. |
2. | Describe a hypha of Penicillium and compare it with a filament of Spirojyra. Also describe and compare the process of spore-forma-tion in the same plants. |
3. | Give an account of the process of fertilization, and of the development of the oospore (fertilized egg-cell) in a moss, a fern, a pine, and an angiosperm. |
4. | What are the most important differences between anemophilous and entomophilous flowers? |
5. | Describe fully the microscopic structure of a leaf, stating the functions of the various parts. |
6. | In ordinary language many Fucoids (Melanophyceœ) are spoken of as possessing root, stem, and leaves: how do these structures differ from those properly so called? |
7. | Under ordinary circumstances plants live upon carbonic dioxide (carbonic acid) and a watery solution of mineral salts. Mention as many important exceptions to this rule as you can remember, describing in each case the character of the food. |
8. | Describe in detail the inflorescence of any member of the Compositœ yoa have examined: draw the floral diagram, and write Down the floral formula. |
