Rotomahana.
This far-famed lake is but a small sheet of water of about a mile each way. Its borders are fringed with rushes, reeds and sedges, which swarm with water-fowl. The water of the lake is quite warm, and this is accounted for by the fact that the bed of the lake is hot ground full of boiling springs. It is not the lake itself but its wonderful terraces that have made Rotomahana one of the most marvellous regions in the world.
