A very efficient postal system exists in Victoria, and Post-offices are established throughout the length and breadth of the colony; 1069 of such institutions existed in 1879, as against 802 five years previously. In the same quinquennial period the letters, newspapers, and packets despatched and received in a year increased from less than 24,000,000 to 36,500,000.
