XXV.—New Rules and Bye-Laws.

1. No rule certified or allowed shall be added to, altered or repealed,

except at a general meeting of the members of the Society, convened by public notice signed by the Actuary and Secreary of the Society in pursuance of a requisition to them for that purpose made by fifteen members of the Society, which requisition and notice shall be publicly read at the two usual meetings of the Society held next before the general meeting convened or the purpose of such addition, alteration, and repeal: Providedal ways that if at such general meeting a committee of members shall be nominated for the purpose of making such alteration or repeal, such Committee shall have the like power to add to, alter, and upset any of the rules of this Society as the said general meeting

Bye-laws:

itself would have had : Provided also that no addition, alteration or repeal shall be made at any general meeting without the concurrence of three-fourths of the members present at such meeting nor shall any such Committee be appointed by a less number than three-fourths of the said meeting, nor shall any rule be altered by any less number than three-fourths of such Committee.

2. The Committee may, however, make bye-laws for the guidance of the officers or members, and for giving fuller effect to the rules such bye-laws being auxiliary merely, and not repugnant thereto.
