Victoria '65 Supplement to Salient, Vol. 28, No. 1. 1965.

Where Your Money Goes

Where Your Money Goes

The Students' Association fee is paid by all students, except for a handful of unimportant exceptions. For 1966 it will be £6, and this amount is split up into designated allocations. £2/10/- is allocated to the general activities of the Association, and covers grants to clubs, salaries of staff, and general administration expenditure. Ten shillings of the fee is held by the Association in trust for future buildings, and a further ten shillings is allocated to the Association's newspaper, 'Salient.'

About 55 per cent of the maintenance costs of the Student Union are met by the University. The balance is found by a levy of £1 per student, which is included in the Association fee.

The remaining £1/10/-is paid to a Building Fund account which is held by the University. This account is used to repay monies borrowed for the present building, with a balance held for future extensions.
