University Courses In New Zealand
Seven New Zealand towns have universities or branch university colleges. The total number of university students in New Zealand this year is approximately 20,000.
Distribution of these students amongst the universities is determined by two factors, geography and the courses available. Below is a brief analysis of the courses offered by the various universities:
Auckland University
Situated in the town of the same name, Auckland has a branch university under the Department of University Extension at Hamilton. It offers degrees or diplomas in Architecture; Art; Commerce; Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering; Fine Arts; Law; Music; Optometry; and Science. There is a post - graduate course in Town Planning.
Victoria University
Situated in Wellington, it offers courses in Arts; Commerce; Law; Music; and Science, with post-graduate courses in Public Administration and Social Science.
Massey University
Fully titled Massey University of the Manawatu, this university has only recently gained its full independance. It offers courses in Agriculture; Arts; Food Technology; Veterinary; and Science.
