Education Committee—have organised a series of panel discussions between fellow lecturers. Of interest to all students, although one faculty is more directly Involved each day than another. 12.50-2 p.m. theatre each day. Today; Science.

An evening's entertainment by the Maori Club— and possibly the International Club.

Tuesday 9th—
"Freshers' Day"

Freshers' buffet tea, faculty talks, bazaar of club activities and club displays — the opportunity being given to meet possible new club members.

9 p.m.-12.30 p.m. Freshers' Dance.

Wednesday 10th—

V.U.W. Drama Club — presents 'Everyman' and 'Salome' — a two-night session. 'Salome' a N.Z. premiere.

G. Wallis speaks at Evangelical Union meeting. Labour Party Dance.

Education Committee lecture — Today: Social Science.

Thursday 11th—

Education Committee lecture—Today: Arts.

Athletic Club evening—films, supper.

An exhibition in the Gymnasium at 7.30 p.m. by the Tennis Club, featuring the appearance of famed players.

Drama Club plays—'Salome' and 'Everyman.'

Friday 12th—

Catholic Students' Guild holds first Mass.

1 p.m. Judo Club demonstration.

Evening debate — Labour Club v. National Club.

Film Society—8 p.m. special selection of films.

Judo Club Dance.

Saturday 13th—

Maori Club dance.

Sunday 14th—

Inaugural church service at St. Andrew's. Guest preacher Prof. H. H. Farmer, of Cambridge University.

C.S.G. Coffee evening—Dr. Sutch discusses the future of Education in New Zealand.

Film Society Screening.

Science Club's welcome to freshers — speeches, films, supper.

Labour Party—Mr R. J Tizard, M.P., discusses 'N.Z. and the Pacific.'

Downstage Theatre Society presents 'Bartholomew Fair' — a comedy by Ben Jonson. Sponsored by the English Dept. and Arts Council. Produced by Roger Savage. (Monday 15th—Saturday 20th at 8 p.m.).

Tuesday 16th—

Maori Club—freshers' welcome.

S.C.M.—freshers' welcome. Rev. J. Murray speaker.

Wednesday 17th—

Labour Party—lunch-hour film screening.

7.30 p.m.—simultaneous chess exhibition.

1-2 p.m. Dr Waterhouse of D.S.I.R.—'God—fact or fancy.'

Thursday 18th—

French Club A.G.M., social—talk by Professor Norrish.

Chess Club — Introduction to chess, novelty evening.

Friday 19th—

Evangelical Union—talk by a Missionary.

Downstage play—2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The very first 'Commencement Ball' of V.U.W. Offering all students a chance of pre-season social orientation. It will be comparable to Capping Ball — two dance bands — an exclusive buffet supper — liquor to be served.
