Gwenda Martin

Gwenda came to VUC in 1944 to do Med. Intermediate, is now a second-year Training College student, and after a minor excursion into Arts last year, hopes to complete B.Sc. in 1949. Member of the Tramping Club, Biology Society, Debating Society since 1944, and of backstage staff in the last six Extravs. (was Wardrobe Mistress 1948 and shared the position with Daphne Fletcher this year). She swam for Victoria at Auckland 1947, was on ing Billeting Committee for Winter Tournament 1947. sometime member of Gramophone and Swimming Committees, "Salient" 1947-49, Debating Committee 1948-49, Socialist Club Committee 1949 and ISS Committee 1948-June '49.

Gwenda is interested in resurrecting the Medical and Departmental Committee schemes, in accelerating the Bursaries Scheme, and in publicising the hostel dwellers' miseries. She thinks Victoria should participate in ISS, WFDY and IUS. She has at least some ideas to alleviate the continual cafeteria crisis.
