From Sarawak with Fear
Dear Editors,
To be a known 'subversive element' is a dead Malaysian. That's the most basic principle one could find in Malaysia. "Govt, taking a serious view of student subversion", "Bid to brainwash our students", "Our students and reds in New Zealand" etc......so run the headlines of the Malaysian Nation Newspaper, Straits Times.
What is the chain reaction at home? Today I received a letter from my parents advising me not to get involved in student politics; enclosed therein were some home-news clippings. I am the son of my father; but I'm ateo a chicken feed to the Malaysian fried chicken.
Chicken Feed
P.S. Only after firm assurance that my identity will be kept strictly confidential did I dare venture to write this letter.
