Otago continued on its winning way, having its third successive win in this sport since it has been played at Winter Tournament.

Otago decisively defeated Vic (29-6), Auckland (45-11) and just scraped home in the final against Canterbury (22-20).

Victoria besides losing to Otago, lost narrowly to Canterbury (34-26) and defeated Auckland 23-19. As Auckland suffered three losses Vic finished up third overall.

Six Vic players, B. Yates, L. Banks, J. Robson, E. Simmons, M. Creevy, T. Fowler, were in the North Island Universities team which lost to the South 35-18.

Brenda Yates and Margot Creevy were also members of the NZU team which triumphed over Otago provinces 24-16.
