Disappointing Show

After its previous week's performance, University gave a disappointing display against Brooklyn United to go down 1-5.

Jim Courtley, who played a good game, scored the goal for University. John Mehl and John McKenzie were the pick of the University defence.

The University second team, which was without several of its regular players, was well beaten 5-1 by second-placed Stop Out. John Betteridge, in goal, made some tine saves and Robin Fox scored a consolation goal.

The Fifth Division learn game its best performance of the season when it beat Johnsonvilla 3-1.

Though the Varsity success was achieved mainly as the result of a team effort. Bill Arcus was outstanding in the defence.

Newcomers to the team. Nils Andreassen (2) and Phil Donnelly, scored the goals for University.

In the lower grades the picture was a gloomy one. The Sixth Division team lost 7-2 to Miramar Rangers, while in the Seventh Division, the "A" team defaulted to Wellington Working Men's Club, the "B" team went down 5-2 to Wellington Diamond United and the "C" team was hammered 13-1 by Western Suburbs.

Smith); Seventh Division "A" lost to Wellington Working Men's Club by default; Seventh Division "B" lost to Wellington Diamond United 2-5 (J. Arcus, R. Turner): Seventh Division "C" lost to Western Suburbs 1-13 (A. Langford); Seventh Division "D" lost to Wainuiomata "A" 0-4.
