Model Assembly supports guerrillas

A Resolution expressing support for this guerrilla struggle in Rhodesia was passed by a model United Nations General Assembly on Rhodesia.

The meeting was described by Mr Peter Rosier, President of NZUSA as a great success though he thought it was a pity more spectators did not attend.

Experts from several fields of international law and politics addressed the assembly.

One. Mr R. M. Robinson, First Secretary of the Canadian High Commission said there was an increasing danger of a Communist Chinese takeover of the mineral resources of Zambia.

He said the presence of the Smith regime simplified their task.

He was apparently heavily criticised for his statements.

Mr H. W. Tapela, a Zimbabwe student, presented the Rhodesian African view.

Mr Rosier said his personal involvement in the issue made his contribution the best of the outside speakers.

"The 22 delegates all demon strated they had a good knowledge of their countries' respective positions," Mr Rosier said.

Plans will be discussed at Winter Council for similar meetings to be held.
