Malaysian association

A Malaysian Students' Association was formed in the University last week, following a prediction in Salient that this would occur.

About 25 people are believed to have attended the inaugural meeting. Most were Malays.

They decided "That the Malaysian students gathered at the inaugural meeting express their undivided support for the Malaysian Government in its stand on the Fillipino claim and unilateral and high-handed action with regard to the state of Sabah, and in total disregard of the sovereignty of the Malaysian nation and people. We further express our preparedness to return to defend our country at any lime our services are needed."

It is not known how many students from Malaysia will abandon the old Malaysia and Singapore Students' Association to join the new Association to join the new Association, which will be more acceptable to the Malaysian Government.
