Seven-hundred copies of a signed prats statement against Comalco and the New Zealand Government by Mr P. A. Rissetto have been circulated throughout New Zealand.

The statement wet taken on September 2 by freelance journalist Brian Bell. It was printed in TE HOKlOl MAORI IWI, a broadsheet edited by Darryl Cunningham.

Mr Rissetto It chief of the Rissetto clan of the Ngaltahu tribe in Southland.

His itatement said in port:

"I am concerned about pollution of Maori shellfoods by industrial work being carried on by Comalco Industries in the Southland area.

"I Intend to take legal advice with a view to suing the New Zealand Government end Comalco, to establish by vigorous litigation the validity of the Treaty of waitane.

The statement has created considerable controversy In Wellington, although the Dominion printed only a condensed report. (The Christchurch Press printed a full report.)

Numerous insulting refusals of bar service to Bell in certain hotels have followed the statement's release.
