Who is the student candidate for the City Council? Tony Haas, whose candidature for the City Council was announced in Salient recently, was described in a recent Dominion as an ex-student — though this was not the story Salient was told. Is this another piece of smooth politicking, one story for the prejudiced public, and another for the student press.' Believe it or not, though, there is a candidate for the City Council on the Labour ticket who is undoubtedly a student whom Labour Club has totally ignored — Yvonne Grove. What is behind Labour Club's curious selectivity in candidates?

After Warren Freer's giveaway about a National-Labour coalition on industrial policy, one might have thought people would have shut up, hearing in mind Big Norms work on the great gulf between National and Labour which helped bring him to power. But not so.

Latest recruit to the let's-have-a-coalition brigade is Prohibition man T. J. Young, who in his maiden speech as new MP. for Hutt said how nice it would be for Freer and Marshall to get together. Wouldn't it be great to have a Real opposition in Parliament?

Rumour is that some people are worried that the worst thing said about Doug While so far is just that he's politically gutless. A SULLIENT may appear giving a detailed account of Doug's administration. We wait with bated breath for news of the next lawsuit from Stud. Ass.'s most thick-skinned Pres, ever.

Did you hear that a Maori All Black has strong views On apartheid which he, like all All Blacks supports? "I want separate development and a separate Parliament for all pakehas," he says, "What could be fairer than that? We'll give them a thousand miles of land to themselves, down in Southland, some of the best farming land in the country This is a historic Maori objective — we've believed in this ever since 1840. But we'll have a Pakeha Affairs Act which will allow the Government to sell pakeha land that's not being used properly—we have to have some safeguards against barbarism."
