Stanz raises $1200

The Student Teachers' Association of New Zealand raised a total of $1200 during last term's Stanz week for the N.Z. Health Camps. A relay run from Auckland to Wellington, followed by various activities all over the country, were a great success, and received widespread recognition.

It was decided at Conference at Dunedin to hold a further Stanz week and relay during first term next year. Further events may include an art seminar in Wellington next year, a debating convention at North Shore over Labour Weekend, and an Art Exhibition at Auckland later this term.

Resolutions were made concerning:

• The introduction of a course of Civil Defence into Teachers' College curriculum.

• The investigation into the legal position of docking whole day's of pay for part of a day's absence.

• The establishment of liaison with National Union of Teachers.

• Increased representation on a national scale with New Zealand Education Institute.

Stanz is now recognised as a national body and it has now decided to take the necessary steps to become an incorporated society.

There are eight member colleges, and the membership of the others in New Zealand is to be sought.

The Stanz executive next year will be at Ardmore.
