Poised As In Flight, English debater J. M. J. Burford denies "that this house pities its grandchildren. The visiting debaters (the other being K. Ovenden) won both this debate and a television debate on the same afternoon.
Under the chairmanship of Austin Mitchell, they denied that Britain is too fond of its own traditions— and soundly beat the NZ universities representatives. Victoria's debating team was A. Ashenden and S. Whitehouse.
