Salient: Victoria University Students' Paper. Vol. 28, No. 6. 1965.

Timetable Troubles

Timetable Troubles

"With mistakes like these, how can the university expect us to enrol by post?" demanded a Science student as he waved his Calendar about. He had marked in corrections to the printed Science timetable, and some of the corrections were important ones.

Salient has received comments from several students, and we now have a list of 13 different inaccuracies in the science timetables printed in the 1965 Calendar. (Oddly enough, the only other inaccuracy drawn to our attention is one in the Law timetable).

As an example, on pages 452-3 of the Calendar, periods for Geology I(1) and Geology II(2) are listed. Salient is informed that neither of these listings should have appeared. Again, the lecture days for Physics IB are mis-stated on page 446.

It is of little use to print the corrections now—indeed, we believe the Science Faculty has issued a correction sheet—but the Science student's remark should not be overlooked.

"I regarded the Calendar as being 100 per cent accurate," he pointed out. "If there are this many mistakes that I know of, how many more are there that I cannot know?"
