Ode Upon the Occasion of the Opening of the Students' Union Building

Ode Upon the Occasion of the Opening of the Students' Union Building

All hail, thou building, pure and lowly,
The pride of any campus,
Thou hast been put up, oh so slowly,
That when thy portals may permit us
Entrance to the splendid halls,
Why, please excuse if we in wonder
At thy multi-coloured walls,
Sing thy praise with peals of thunder,
Jubilation, and, with cause,
Unbelief at actually being inside the damn thing at last.

Vast expanse of new laid line,
Gleams and winks upon the floor,
But despite this you and I know
Students won't respect this more Than before.

Digression:
The Cafe.
Odd bods,
Hogging slobbishly, Ogling.

Enchanting palace-to-be-of intellectuals,
Meeting place of maturing minds,
Haven for the thinking schools,
That infest this place, and drink the wines,
Heady and strong, of youth and beauty.
Such a place would gods aspire to,
Such a place as mortals dream of,
Such a place Exec, require to
Be treated with respect. Strict measures will be taken against Offenders to a commonsense code of ethics.

Omow.
