Duties of Executive Members

Men's and Women's Vice-president. There are no specific duties alloted to these officers although one is usually N.Z.U.S.A. Corr. Member. Otherwise they are usually called on to chair ad hoc committees set up for any special purpose. All officers are ex-officio members of the Association subcommittees.

Secretary, This officer deals with all correspondence, minutes of Exec, meetings, filing, etc. The purely mechanical duties are in the hands of the office secretary. The Secretary writes nearly all outward correspondence not concerned with any particular portfolio.

Treasurer, The Treasurer is responsible for all association finance, with power to delegate at sub-committee level. His chief taste is the marshalling and presenting of accounts, bills, etc. to be paid.

Portfolio Holders:—

Capping Controller. This member is Chairman of Capping Committee and is responsible to the Executive fir all Capping activities. Namely Procesh, Extravaganza, Cappicade, Graduands' Supper, Capping Ball and stunts.

Social Controller. This member is Chairman of Social Committee and is responsible for Orientation weak functions, detailed organisation of Capping Ball, Grads' Supper, and general help to clubs wanting advice on social organisation.

Sports Representative. Chairman of Sports Committee and Sports Council. He is responsible for all matters relating to sport, including V.U.W. Blues, and the initial handling of Sports Club grant applications. He is also Senior Delegate to N.Z.U.S.U.

Publications Officer. Chairman of Publications Committee, and is also responsible to the Executive for "Salient," "Spike" and the technical side of "Cappicade" publication.

Public Relations Officer. Chairman of Public Relations Committee and is responsible for internal and external publicity of student affairs, student vacation employment, and student accommodation.

Chairman: Men's House Committee and Women's House Committee. These officers deal with bookings for common-rooms and committee rooms, etc., together with general supervision of the other facilities in the S.U.B.

Cultural Affairs Representative. Chairman of Cultural Affairs Arts Council Committee, and Education Committee. He is also responsible for cultural club liaison, miniature congresses and Arts Festival arrangements.

However, besides these specific duties, there are other duties which nearly all portfolio holders are required to perform. For example Social, Publications, and Public Relations officers are all members of the Capping Committee, and so on.
