Salient: An Organ of Student Opinion at Victoria University Wellington. Vol. 23. No. 1. 1960

[Current Capers]

The last exec. meeting before the commencement of the University year was held on Monday, February 15.

There was nothing of much import decided, but a good deal of playfulness made for, if nothing else, a pleasant evening.

An intriguing letter was received from some sort of Korean Aviation Club. Contents: A good many honeyed terms and a request for money. The reason: Their aerodrome had blown away. Unfortunately no details were given.

There was some doubt as to whether the rather unorthodox request be forwarded to the International Committee or the Finance Committee.

Des Deacon seconded the motion that the letter be forwarded to the International Committee. Then seconded one to send it to the Finance Committee. He rounded off this burst of inconsistency by seconding a motion to send the letter to both committees. This motion was finally carried.

Treasurer Dave Davy protested all along that the Finance Committee was the only place where financial questions can be discussed. He added that the International Committee has no funds.

"Neither has the Finance Committee," remarked Publications Committee chairman Tony Held.
