Salient. An Organ of Student Opinion at Victoria University, Wellington N.Z. Vol. 22, No. 1. March 2, 1959

Go Thump a Tub

Go Thump a Tub

Elections are to be Held this Month to fill the position of Secretary and two places on the Men's Committee. There have now been three resignations, the number which makes an election necessary. They were Peter O'Brien, from the Secretary's position last year; David Davy, to become Acting Secretary; and Neil Plimmer.

Mr Davy, and Mr Nandan, co-opted on to the Executive, will therefore stand again if they wish to stay on.

Small beer though this election is, it will give a fair indication whether or not the students at Victoria are beginning to shake of their shocking lethargy. If there are not two candidates for the Secretary's job, and at least four for the Committee it is certain that the rank and file students at this University do not feel it worth while to be concerned with their own good government.

Just as a matter of interest Exec has ruled that from now or election blurbs will be written by nominators and seconders, and not by candidates. How quaint!
