Salient. An Organ of Student Opinion at Victoria College, Wellington, N.Z. Vol. 11, No. 7. June 23rd, 1948
The annual games with Massey College were played at Athletic Park on Wednesday, June 16th.
The Second XV's game was won by Victoria by 16 points to 11, after a rousing game in which the play moved quickly from one end of the field to the other.
The game between the First XV'S was won easily by Massey by 18 to 3. Massey's teamwork, defence, and ability to be on the ball, especially when it came loose won the game. Both in the backs and forwards Victoria though generally having a territorial advantage, lacked penetration and finish. This is indicative of the standard of this team so far this season. They have consistently lost throughout the season, although a recent victory in the Club competition over Poneke raised hopes of them staging a comeback.
