Salient. An Organ of Student Opinion at Victoria College, Wellington, N.Z. Vol. 1, No. 9 June 01, 1938

These concluding words of "The Leagues' Song" in "Adam Baba and the (forty Leagues" were the pointer to the audience that that Extrav. contained a vital lesson in political science. First, the National Party was shown to be devoid of a policy—"we have nothing to tell the people." This must of course be the position of the Conservative, Tory, Reform and "National" Party in this or any other part of the British Empire. Their only policy is to defend the people's precious liberty—now openly admitted to be a liberty tor capital. Mr. Bodkin a few days ago stated that "no young man in this country was worth his salt unless he looked forward to being a little capitalist." Adam Balm brought out the point perfectly, as per Omay-Zingrab—"With the aid of the Press, we shall produce leagues in which lies the salvation of the country, and the protection of capital and vested interests."
