Emigration to New Zealand.
Free Gift of a 40 Acre Farm.

Messrs. Alex. F. Ridgway & Sons, General Agents to the Provincial Government of Auckland, are authorised to give the following notice:—

Every industrious Man or Woman of good character, and not, through age, infirmity, or other cause, unlikely to form a useful Colonist, will, on approval, receive a Free Gift of Forty Acres of Land, in the Province of Auckland, New Zealand, together with Forty Acres More for each Person 18 years, and Twenty Acres for each Child 5 and under 18 years of age, whom he may take with him to the Colony.

The Order for this Land, which will he chosen by the Emigrant himself, will be delivered to all eligible applicants, by Messrs. Alex. F. Ridgway and Sons, General Agents to the Provincial Government of Auckland, at their Offices, 40, Leicester Square, London, on payment of a Fee of 10s. for each Forty Acre Order, and 5s. for each Twenty Acre Order. The only condition is, that the party shall have engaged to find his own way to the Colony, and this he can do at an expense of about £15 for passage, on applying to some respectable Ship Broker engaged in the New Zealand trade. The Emigrant is not required to occupy or cultivate the Land.

The Rev. Richard Taylor's Advice to young unmarried men
intending to emigrate, is:

"To single men, intending to emigrate, I would say, marry before you go out; a good wife is a great treasure and stay to a young man. Many have been ruined, because they have not had a bosom friend to sustain them in times of trial, besides the social comfort thus derived; for none can tell how dreary a young settler's home is without a wife, and how many temptations she saves him from. Therefore, to every single man I again say, marry, for wives are not to be had abroad; property is of little consideration, compared with that of a partner."

Persons who contemplate Emigrating to Auckland should, before taking any other step, consult the undersigned respecting the Free Grants of Land which are given to eligible individuals.
