The Kia ora coo-ee : the magazine for the ANZACS in the Middle East, 1918

The Kia Ora Coo-ee News."

The Kia Ora Coo-ee News."

The first series of The Kia Ora Coo-ee magazine (March to June inclusive) has been a financial success. Receipts totalled £1466-4-2, and expenditure £1199-1-10, giving a profit of £267-2-4. The Committee intends utilising portion of the profit in repaying to Units that subscribed to the Capital Fund approximately 50 per cent of their loans, which will absorb £213-4-7 and leave the sum of £200 still held in trust on account of the Fund.

To supply a long felt want in the Field, the Committee now proposes to publish a bulletin, entitled The KIA Ora Coo-ee News, for Gratis Distribution to Units of the A.I.F. and N.Z.E.F. in proportion to the number of subscribers to The KIA Ora Coo-ee magazine. It will consist of eight pages, slightly smaller than those of the Official Magazine, and will contain cable messages and general news from all the States of Australia and from New Zealand, racing results and other sporting items, cables from France, etc. If possible, arrangements will be made for special newsletters from Australia and New Zealand, also one from France, dealing with the activities of the Anzacs on the Western Front. In brief, all overseas news of interest to the Antipodean troops here will be gathered for THE KIA Ora Coo-ee News. To begin with, the publication will be issued fortnightly, but it is hoped that the finances of The Kia Ora Coo-ee magazine will permit, at a later date, of its being published weekly.

The shortage of paper and high cost of printing in Egypt mean that the outlay will be heavy; but if all members of the Forces on this front become subscribers to the Official Magazine, it will be possible to issue the free news journal for their benefit. All ranks should bear in mind that its continuance is wholly dependant upon themselves and their support of The Kia Ora Coo-ee magazine.

The folks at home would appreciate The Kia Ora Coo-ee magazine

Balance sheet, and profit and loss account in detail, will appear in the first number of The Kia Ora Coo-ee News, which will be published on August 6th., 1918.
