Kowhai Gold
[S. August]
I Would Have Songs
I would have songs for the singing,
Gold for the spending,
White birds in blue skies winging,
A long road seaward bending.
I would have these and no other,
And I would say to To-morrow,
"To-day is my only brother,
I have naught to borrow."
