No. 237.—Petition of Kihiringi te Morenga and 58 Others.

Petitioners pray that certain lands in the Ahipara and Herekino districts be reserved as a gum-diggings for the use of the Maoris and British residents of the neighbourhood, and that the Austrians may be debarred from using the same.

I am directed to report that the Committee recommends this petition be referred to the Government for consideration.
