Reports of the Native Affairs Committee, 1896.

[No. 352.—Petition of Ihaka Paka and Others.]

No. 352.—Petition of Ihaka Paka and Others.

Petitioners allege that when the sale of the Manawatu-Kukutauaki Block took place they stipulated for a reserve of 1,000 acres, but when the quantity handed over to them was surveyed they found there was only 987 acres. They pray for the return of the 13 acres short.

I am directed to report that the Committee, having ascertained all the circumstances connected with the case, are of opinion the petitioners have no claim for consideration.

[Translation. ]
No. 352.—Pitihana a Ihaka Paka me etahi atu.

E ki ana nga kai-pitihana i te wa i hokona ai a Manawatu-Kukutauaki Poraka, i whakaritea e ratou kia 1,000 nga eka e rahuitia mo ratou, otira no te ruritanga o te wahi i hoatu mo ratou kitea ana e ratou e 987 tonu nga eka o taua wahi. E inoi ana ratou kia whakahokia atu ki a ratou te 13 eka i ngaro.

Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, i te mea kua kimihia a kua kitea e te Komiti nga mea katoa e pa ana ki tenei putake, ki ta ratou whakaaro kaore kau he take e whakaarohia ai tenei kereeme.
