No. 204.—Petition of Alice Mary Redmond, of Wellington.
Petitioner, a half-caste, belonging to the Ngatiawa Tribe, Waitara, alleges that owing to her having lived with her parents in the Middle Island from her childhood she has had no opportunity of prosecuting her claims to certain lands in Taranaki. She prays for consideration as a landless Native.
I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry, and if the allegations are found to be correct, it is recommended that relief be granted to the petitioner.
