Reports of the Native Affairs Committee, 1894.

[No. 24.—Petition of Wi Mahuri Mataitaua.]

No. 24.—Petition of Wi Mahuri Mataitaua.

Petitioner prays that legislation may be passed enabling a rehearing to be made of the partition of Aorangi No. 3G. and Aorangi No. 3F. Blocks.

I am directed to report that, through the mismanagement of the petitioner's case in the Native Land Court, he has been deprived of his ancestral home, and in the opinion of this Committee some amendment should be made in the Native land law to enable this and other similar cases to be reinvestigated by a competent tribunal.
