Arrival of Sir George Grey at Auckland
Arrival of Sir George Grey at Auckland.
By the Storm Bird we learn via Napier that his Excellency Sir George Grey arrived at Auckland on the 26th September in H.M.S. Cossack. We are informed that his Excellency was received with great demonstrations of respect and joy, the day being observed as a general holiday. It is reported that two regiments are coming from the Cape, when probably the portion of the 12th regiment at present in Auckland will return to Australia. The news was brought to Napier by the cutter Aquila which left Auckland the day on which Sir George Grey arrived.
