Sir,—

I have the honour, by direction of Mr. Richmond, to request you to be good enough to obtain the signature of Matiaha Tiramorahu to the enclosed receipt in Maori for £200, paid to him on the 7th February, as the receipt, forwarded in your letter of the 8th February, is not satisfactory.

I have received from Mr. Strode £200, in full payment of all my claims, and the claims of my people to the lands situated at Kaiapoi, and on to Wai-au-ua, and on to the sources of Wai-au-ua, of Hurunui, of Rakahauri, Mr. Hamilton purchased these lands.

I truly consent that this is the last payment for me and my people for these lands, and I will not, neither will my people ask the Government for any further payment on account of these lands.
