Conveyance.Land in City of Nelson.Commissioner of Native Reserves to William Adams.Entered on Record this 28th day of September, 1864.Alfred Domett,Secretary for Crown Lands.R, 6 A, No. 236.Registered Vol. 6, D, No. 6720, 18th November, 1864.John Poynter,Registrar of Deeds.This deed made the fifteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, between James Mackay, the younger, of the City of Nelson, in the Province of Nelson, in the Colony of New Zealand, Esquire, Commissioner of Native Reserves appointed under the several Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled respectively "The Native Reserves Act, 1856," and "The Native Reserves Amendment Act, 1862," and hereinafter called the Commissioner of the one part, and William Adams, of the same City of Nelson, gentleman, of the other part. Whereas power is given to Commissioners appointed under the said Acts (subject to the provisions thereof), to exchange, absolutely sell, lease, or otherwise dispose of lands over which the Native Title shall have been extinguished within the jurisdiction of the Commissioners respectively, and reserved or set apart for the benefit of the Aboriginal inhabitants. And whereas the land hereinafter described has been set apart for the benefit of the Aboriginal inhabitants, and the Native Title over the same has been extinguished. And whereas the said Commissioner has agreed to sell the piece of land hereinafter described to the said William Adams for the price or sum of fifty pounds. Now This Deed Witnesseth, that in pursuance of the said agreement, and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds sterling paid by the said William Adams to the said Commissioner, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged: He the said Commissioner doth hereby convey and assure unto the said William Adams, and his heirs: All that piece or parcel of land situate at the City of Nelson in the said Province, containing one rood and eighteen perches (more or less), being part of section numbered 344 on the plan of the said City of Nelson, bounded on the northward by sections numbered respectively 343 and 345 on the said plan (three hundred and thirty links); on the eastward by section numbered 346 on the said plan (one hundred and thirty-four links); on the southward by page 398other part of the said section (two hundred and thirty links); and on the south-westward by Shakespeare walk. The abuttals and boundaries of which said piece or parcel of land are more particularly delineated and described in the plan drawn in the margin of these presents, and coloured yellow, together with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or appertaining, to have and to hold the said piece or parcel of land hereditaments and premises hereby conveyed and assured or expressed and intended so to be unto the said William Adams, his heirs and assigns, to the use of the said William Adams, his heirs and assigns for ever. In witness whereof, the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands the day and year first above written.
