No. 12. — [Translation.]

No. 12.
[Translation.]

Be It Remembered! We have received from Mr. Buller on the day now transpiring, that is to say on the sixth day of January, 1860, the sum of one hundred pounds (£100).

The payment thus made to us is in final settlement of our land at Kaiapoi, and within the Rivers Wai-au-ua, Hurunui, and Rakahauri, extending northwards and southwards, being the district surrendered by us to Queen Victoria, and her successors for ever, on the fifth day of January, 1857, for which Mr. Hamilton has paid us by two payments, the sum of four hundred pounds.

We consider the present payment of one hundred pounds an act of grace on the part of the Governor.

Paora X Taki, and 19 others.
