I will act for the Government. The case is a troublesome and complicated one. It will never be settled without making future reserves for the Kaiapoi Natives under "The Crown Grants Act, 1862," see Ngaitahu deeds in Appendix of 1858. see reports of Court in Lyttleton Times. The mixing up of hapu and their lands would, be a great evil. Mr. Domett would advise.
