Orthoptera.
Although the Libellulidæ are not represented in the collection from Funafuti, Mr. Hedley remarks that a large dragon-fly was a conspicuous object, flashing across the more open spaces in the woodland on sunny days. In the Gilbert Group the three following species are common:—Anax guttata, Pantala flavescens, Trithemis bipunctata.*
So far as the collection under discussion is concerned, this Order is represented by the following species:—
