A correspondent of a Dunedin paper, who has had some experience of controversy with newspaper editors, says: « To openly express dissent from the editorial opinion is about as rational an exercise as shooting boiled peas at a rhinoceros. »
The latest innovation is to drop the m in writing or printing the hour of the day. « 10.15a., » « 2.30p. » is the new style. Printers have occasionally, in tabular work, been obliged to adopt this abbreviation—it is now proposed to use it systematically. The suggestion is a good one.
