An Act to remove Doubts as to the Validity of the Election of the Taumarunui Town Council. Title.

[13th November, 1907.
Preamble.Whereas by Proclamation dated the twenty-seventh day of November, nineteen hundred and three, the Taumarunui Native Township (hereinafter referred to as the said township) was vested in the Maniapoto-Tuwharetoa District Maori Land Council under the provisions of section eight of the Native and Maori Land Laws Amendment Act, 1902: And whereas by an Order in Council dated the nineteenth day of March, nineteen hundred and seven, the said township was declared to be subject to the provisions ot the Native Townships Local Government Act, 1905: And whereas before the date of the Order in Council aforesaid the Governor, purporting to be acting under the provisions of the last-mentioned Act, caused a Council to be elected for the said township: And whereas doubts have arisen as to the validity of the election, in consequence of its having been held prior to the date of the Order in Council as aforesaid, and it is expedient to remove all such doubts:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of Newr Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1.Short Title. This Act may be cited as the Taumarunui Town Council Election Validation Act, 1907.
2.Election of Council validated. The Council elected for the Taumarunui Native Township on the fifteenth day of May, nineteen hundred and six, shall be deemed to have been a Council eleeted under the provisions of the Native Townships Local Government Act, 1905, and the validity of the election or of any of the acts of the Council so elected shall not page 2be called in question on the ground that the provisions of section two of the said Act had not been complied with before the date of the election.
3.Council to be a local authority. The Council of the Taumarunui Native Township is hereby declared to be, in respect of the said township, a local authority within the meaning and operation of the Public Health Act, 1900.
