An Aid to Memory.
Working by each other one of the men noticed that his mate had a piece of string tied on his finger.
“What's that piece of string tied round your finger for, mate?”
“That's a knot, Bill,” said he. “Forget-me-not is a flower. With flour you make bread, and with bread you have cheese. This is to remind me to buy some pickled onions.”
