Ninety Three Miles per Hour

Ninety Three Miles per Hour

With a view to testing the possibilities of high-speed rail travel an experimental run was made on 3rd April between Paris and Cherbourg. The train consisted of a 4-6-2 locomotive with two de luxe corridor cars, and one luggage van. An average start-to-stop speed of 72 miles per hour was registered by the train, which, on certain portions of the track, attained the high speed of 93 miles per hour.
