Middleton Marshalling Yard.

Before this yard (which is to give New Zealand its first “hump” lay-out for shunting) could be passed for use, very careful tests had to be made to ensure that the grading and electric control facilities were suited to the principal types of rolling stock. These photographs were taken during the period of the trials.
