Cordial Manufacturer.

Steffensen, Carl Olaf, Cordial Manufacturer, corner of Eliot Street and Lemon Street. New Plymouth. This business, which is conducted in freehold premises, is devoted principally to the making of horehound beer, ginger beer and vinegar. The horehound beer is a specialty, and its sale extends as far distant as Marton. Three persons are employed, and goods are delivered throughout the New Plymouth district. Mr. Steffensen

was born in Christiania, Norway, in the year 1877, and went to Queensland, Australia, when only three years of age. At the age of thirteen years he started work in a cordial factory in Bundaberg. In 1902 Mr. Steffensen came to New Zealand, and started in business on his own account. As a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters, he was connected with Court Merry Men, in Queensland, whence he affiliated to Court Waireka, in New Plymouth, and he has gone through the chairs in both courts. Mr. Steffensen's father was a master mariner.
