Railway Department — Picton Railway Station

Railway Department.

Picton Railway Station is am old wooden building close to the wharf, and is (1905) shortly to be replaced by a modern building. Picton is the headquarters of the Marlborough railways, and the line has now reached to a few miles beyond Seddon. There is a station at Blenheim, and one at Seddon, and there are ten or twelve flag stations on the way. In the year 1901 the total number of passengers carried on the Marlborough railways was 61,000. Mr. T. Spargo Edwards, manager of the Marlborough section, also acts as stationmaster at Picton.
