, Bricklayer and Contractor, North Road, Winton. Mr Young was born in 1851, in Midlothian, Scotland, where he was educated. He was brought up as a bricklayer in Edinburgh, and worked at his trade until 1876, when he came out to New Zealand by the ship “Corona.” Mr

Young settled at Winton, where he has worked on many of the principal buildings. In conjunction with a partner, he erected the Winton Oddfellows Hall, and the first portion of the Roman Catholic church. Mr Young resides in a commodious eight-roomed dwelling-house, on the Great North Road, where he owns fourteen acres of freehold, and leases five acres adjoining. He was married, on the 2nd of August, 1877, to a daughter of Mr M. H. L. Bennett, of Forest Hill, and has five sons and five daughters.
