The Railway Hotel

The Railway Hotel (William Gunn. proprietor), Riverton. Bankers, National Bank of New Zealand. This well-appointed and popular hostelry, which adjoins the Riverton Railway Station, was built by the present proprietor about the year 1881, but was leased to a tenant until 1889, when Mr. Gunn himself took over the management, and the business thereupon soon doubled itself. One feature of the establishment is the excellent stabling, which is patronised extensively by the settlers of the district.
