The Very Rev. Patrick Murphy
The Very Rev. Patrick Murphy . Administrator of St. Joseph's Cathedral, Dunedin, was born in County Galway, Ireland, and educated at St. Jarlath's College, Tuam, and at the Irish College, Paris. He was ordained in 1889, at Maynooth, by the Most Rev. Dr. Walsh, Archbishop of Dublin, and in the same year came to New Zealand to assist the Rev. Father Walsh at Invercargill. Father Murphy was transferred to the Dunedin Cathedral in 1891 as assistant to Father Lynch, and in 1897 received his present appointment of Administrator to St. Joseph's Cathedral.
