The large business conducted by Messrs. Bowron Bros, was founded in 1880, in which year the partners arrived from England. The Woolston tannery stands on an area of seven acres in extent, the works being complete with all the latest appliances and machinery. The firm makes every description of leather, which finds ready sale in local markets, and is also exported to London.
