The Rev. W. T. Pochin Winter

The Rev. W. T. Pochin Winter, M.A., Vicar of St. Peter's, Riccarton, is a son of the late Rev. Seneca W. Winter, who was for twenty years vicar of St. Barnabas', Birmingham, and was born at Hastings, England, in 1855. He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford, and took his B.A. degree in 1879 and his M.A. in 1889. Mr. Winter was ordained in 1878, by the Bishop of Peterborough, and during the year following was curate at Lutterworth, Leicestershire. From 1879 until 1885 he held curacies at Bitteswell. page 197 Torquay. In 1885 he was appointed vicar of Holy Trinity, Barnstaple, and in the year following came to New Zealand, and received the appointment of chaplain to the Bishop of Christchurch. In 1887 he took charge of the parish of Courtenay, and in 1890 was appointed vicar of Riccarton. From 1895 till 1898 he was also chaplain to the Sunnyside Asylum. Mr. Winter married Miss Isabel M. Pollard, daughter of the late Dr. Pollard, of Torquay.
